I studied paper making at the Visual Art Center, Beer-Sheva, in the years 1982-4 with the late artist Joyce Schmidt who founded the paper-making studio- "Uncle Bob Leslie papermill"  named after the supporter of this unique project. Through Joyce, I was exposed to the art and craft of Japanese paper and a year later went to Japan to study with two masters of WASHI paper. In 1986 after returning to Israel, I set up the  "Tut Neyar" papermill in Zichron Ya'akov with Timna. We raised our children and  "paper mulberry" trees (kozo in Japanese) from which we made beautiful papers and paper products; conducted workshops in paper making and participated in group and solo exhibitions. I was invited as a guest artist in several workshops abroad (Czech Republic, Spain, USA)

In 2012 I moved to Western Galilee and opened a paper studio in the Druze village of Jat HaGalilit and grow my plants in nearby Klil. I make custom paper mainly for artists  (for painting, printing, calligraphy, etc.) as well as for paper conservators. I try to make papers from new and special fibers (from the kenaf plant - an Israeli start-up, fibers from sewage treatment plant waste, paper from algae and from beer waste-grain...)

I collaborate with artists who wish to create with paper - art students, performance artists, and visual artists who have no background in paper, but with my help develop and create works of art. I am trying to promote a residency program for artists for a long stay. Also active  in projects to establish paper workshops in therapeutic and occupational centers for special populations, from the plant growth stage to the finished product sold in stores.
